Why can't everyone just be happy? That question is asked often and I realized why, if everyone was happy, we'd all be dead. As if everyone's thoughts that they think will make them happy, well we all think life would be better without something/someone so it'd just start chaos, so just be happy with what you do have

StartOrbz Studio (SOS) is an amazing piece of software, developed by Blizo of the DeviantArt community, which allows you to create a custom orb which replaces Window's default, in turn adding a lot more a bit more freedom when it comes to customising your desktop.

This great application saves you a substantial amount of time as you do not have to worry about getting the correct sizes for the orb file or any of the orbs themselves. Being a built in editor, the set of effects are there ready for you to tweak. Even better, SOS has a save functionality which allows you to store your orb and when required you can go back and tweak your orbs more as SOS loads all of your prior orbs on startup.

SOS isn't like any average Window's application, it looks stunning! Being a member of the DeviantArt community you'd expect something stunning anyway. The user interface is very friendly where the background consists of hues of blue. If you are taking a dislike to the application's default blue background then by all means change it. Blizo has included 7 other backgrounds that can be used.

Pros:
  • A lot of functionality - Create, edit, save, apply, import, export and manage orbs
  • Beautiful and friendly interface - nice transitions
  • Detailed starter instructions
  • Import and export orbs - Use orbs others have created or share orbs you have created
  • Free
Cons:
  • Windows only
In conclusion, StartOrbs Studio is an application which allows you to create, edit, save, apply, import, export and manage orbs. Its beautifully designed background and transitions are very pleasing to the eye; its a work of art. I give this application a 10/10 based on its functionality, its appearance and that fact that its free for everyone to use. To be honest, it looks better than any other paid Windows program. If you are really into customisation, I suggest you download this application and use it. If you're not into customisation, download it any way and marvel at its interface.

Run it as Admin.

Or download this script and then take ownership of explorer.exe in your Windows directory

Did you try this: Start the Orb application. End the explorer.exe process and then apply it?
