Due to the quick change of theme, (as we were having multiple issues with the old theme been out of date and not compatiable with new code) we have had multiple bug reports submitted with our mobile site.
I'm proud to say most bugs with mobile have been resolved now.

Jamie reacted to  Mecmax for a blog entry, Unnamed Philosophy: Intro
    Hey guys,
I know it's been a while since I've been around on JR. However, I'm currently trying to formalize a philosophy I have developed over this last year (and which I find in a lot of other places too), and I've always thought back to the JR blogs as somewhere I have spewed out brain-droppings. Therefore, I think I'll continue to use this as not only a way to get my ideas out into text, but to stay active on JR.
I decided to stick with this blog, since it's interesting to me to go back and read old posts to see how much I have changed as a person. However, for convenience, I am naming this series "Unnamed Philosophy", to distinguish the brain-droppings from me trying to write chapters about this philosophy.
I hope you all enjoy this. Remember that it is a philosophy, so it will confront everything in life, dark and light. As someone that has embraced this way of thinking, though, I do think I have a clearer view on the world around me and myself. Enjoy your read.

Recently we have been backend doing some development that has and hasn't been released yet.
    Released:
Mobile: We understand that as technology evolves so does our mobile presence. To acknowledge this shift in the industry we have been working on JR so it plays friendly for tablets and mobiles. To sort these issues we have run a variety of tests on multiple devices (1080p Phone + Tablet, iPhone) to see what problem areas are and to fix problem areas.
We found and patched the following bugs:
Disabled background load on mobile phones Removed the javascript header opening on tablets and phones as it was overlaying content Moved logo to center of the screen up top and removed margin pushing the website lower. On devices that have a low resolution or screen size when used in a portrait orientation the logo will be pushed more to the left to make way to use the return and other links that are provided on the mobile nav bar The back to top link now automatically moves to the center bar. Social Bar: JR is working harder to provide more push notifications to our social pages to expand our community not just inside but outside our website. You may have seen the bottom links in the right hand corner. If you haven't already please join our social presence. We will be releasing competitions on these pages soon. If you are a Xbox player please join our Xbox club, you can do so by clicking on the xbox logo and clicking join. When JR members are playing you will be able to find them easier to play and news about events coming soon will be posted on the xbox club.
Advertising: JR knows that advertising is headwrecking but we also have to gather some return on the expenditure for our services which is currently adding up to quite a bit out of my back pocket. To help with the struggle we have moved advertising to easier to see places. If you are a premium JR member advertising will be removed on your account. If you are a guest or a member advertising will still show for you but we promise only to show 2 adverts on a page at a time.
Analytics: We are trying to find out how users use our website better, therefore we are using google analytics to show us user trends, what people use to browse JR, how long they stay on our website. All data is anonymous and we are not tracking individuals. All the data we gather is gathered using cookies and a javascript api.
    Un - Released:
    Servers App:
Recently we bought a servers list app to show users what servers we have, what is online and how many players play on JR. Unfortunately the developer did not provide any support to help us with anything. Therefore we are developing a similar application which #1 is tailored to our needs and #2 is our application and only our application. Features we code will be unique to JR. We are hoping this application will help us better monitor our servers, our uptime and of course make it easier for users to use our services.
We plan to also integrate a skinned down version in the help center so you can easily check if any server is offline. This feature will also alert admins in the event of a catastrophic failure causing downtime.
You can see the latest progress here at: https://dev.jrnetwork.net/
We are currently working on a better method to get map images with a failover system incase for some reason the map images are not accessible. We hope to remove the current serverlist we purchased and release this new project in the next week or so.
If anyone has any suggestions regarding this all critisims and suggestions can be either PM'ed to myself or simply write a comment here. Nothing is stupid and every suggestion will be taken in to consideration.
    Caching and site optimisation:
We are always looking to make JR load in a better way. We are currently working on a site optimisation method and better caching methods to increase site load times and pings from different areas. This will be coming soon!
We hope that this update with the current development on JR will show why users may or may not have seen me do much at JR recently. There is a lot of background development going on and after the servers app is released in some form our development focus will be on expanding our server capabilities and adding more games that can be played.

Today, I'd like to share a few images of my day. I went for a walk / drive out to somewhere close to a place called castlegregory in Ireland. It was a beautiful day so I said I'd take a couple of shots. Have a look

I must admit the S6's quality is something amazing.
On the other side of things, JR is going well a lot better than it used to and that makes me happy that I'm starting to really rebuild the team, services and stuff that we do best.
    More to come...

Jamie got a reaction from Chris for a blog entry, A new day in the life of Jamie
Recently, I have been so busy with loads of things, work, girlfriend, work and more work.
Sometimes you forget how much you do in a day but I thought I'd give you a bit of an insight in what I actually do.
I work in a business called Harvey Norman, it's a computers, electrical and bedding/furniture department store. Day in day out I sell to customers, give support, help out in the photo section I work closely with the managers making sure that the staff are performing up to standards. I'm in charge of extended warranty and the hardware section and it takes a lot of effort and work for the role I play. For example the last few days I've had to run our department, while doing this there are a lot more responsibilities. (complaints/refunds/replacements/making sure staff go on lunch and so forth).
Being honest, with work it's helping me learn how to organize and delegate my work better.
After work I generally come home tired, when I mean tired I mean tired. Most days all I want to do is sleep when I'm home. (Great I know).

I've started to really get my life back on track, not just with scheduling what I do better but actually eating a breakfast, it's helped me. I'm not as tired as much (yes it's a thing).
I'm glad that I've started to really work hard at JR when I can, I can't do it every day but when I can I work hard. My goal is to get everything working very stable so everyone can enjoy playing at JR. Whether minecraft or other games.
I don't blog much but I'm going to start to use this as a kind of outlet to help me concentrate better and give you guys an insight in the life of me. I hope you guys want to hear about me and if you don't it's cool just don't read any further
So that's that.. For now, more to come

Jamie reacted to  Mecmax for a blog entry, New game! Ghost Survive!
    Hey guys,
I was quite distracted by JRCraft today, because I made a little minigame on the minigames server! This one's a non-profit, so it's for free (which will be the norm, don't worry). It's called "Ghost Survive", and the idea is that you're on top of a skinny tower, and ghosts (floating skeletons with creepy ghast faces, that shoot you from very far and with flaming arrows!) slowly float up towards you, and you and your friends need to fend them off as long as possible.
The game works well enough, but is in an early stage of development. I'll add a proper high-score system, a proper death system, and plenty of customised messages. For now, you just need to survive as long as you can up top the tower. To get there, you have to go through the "Franchovy minigames" hub at warhub, then click on the only minigame available. Hopefully the sign teleportation system works, if not, please let me know. I already have encountered issues when multiple people are using the signs, so I might need to search for alternatives or ways to fix it.
Be sure to check it out! I'm happy to play some short games with friends if anyone is up for it! However, I have some finals to study for now.
I'll also be adding little games like this to the minigames server in the future! They're never-seen-before games, so they could attract some attention to the server
    See you all next time,

Jamie reacted to  Mecmax for a blog entry, Arcade coming soon... Kind of!
    Hey guys,
I've just built a roulette machine at the Minigames Server spawn, and after doing so, I decided to rebuild an arcade! However, all my fans out there that read my blog posts will know that I'm trying to get rich on JR. Thankfully I have OP on Minigames so I can just give myself money with commands. I've decided to make a casino before an arcade! There, people can play classic casino games by themselves or with other players to lose make money. I could also mix in the games that I used to have at the arcade with money, giving people money based on their score, and making them buy coupons of some kind to play. A big shoutout to @Jamie for allowing command blocks, and letting all of this be possible.
Also, as usual, I will use evil psychological techniques to make people lose money. One of these include the fact that if you pay money for something, you'll value it more than if you didn't, so the amount of money I make people pay will pay off no matter what
The arcade/casino will start being built in 3 weeks time! I hope you're all excited for it. It's gonna be a lot more than pushing buttons, thanks to the clever updates our friends at Mojang have come up with since Minecraft Beta!

Jamie reacted to  Mecmax for a blog entry, Server Purpose
    Hey guys,
This blog post may come off as more of a criticism, but I'll do my best to make my argument clear and convincing rather than personal or something.
So ever since I logged onto JRCraft this year, I noticed something strange. I think I logged on around two months ago, a little after I re-started posting things on the forum and people started to come back. The first thing I noticed, as I entered the server, is that there were two distinct survival servers. I was quite confused, (mostly because of the super-disorganised spawn at the time), and managed my way to one of them. I started playing on the Survival server, where I made the cute house, obelisk and bulk shop. Later, as Jamie updated the hub and the servers became clearer, I realised that the Survival server was where more people were playing, so I started building there. That's the server where I built my rich-person house and where I own the one and only dragon egg that will totally make me rich. Now, Jamie has added a third survival server, called "Survive". I liked his idea, when he first proposed it, but I feel like we've strayed from our intentions.
    Server Purpose
I ask myself: What's the point of having multiple servers that all server the same purpose? If we're not trying to distribute some large amount of players, then I find it quite inconvenient. All I really want to do while playing is to hang out with friends, which is loads of fun! Much nicer than surviving on one's own. But if 3 friends are on Survive, and I'm trying to build my house in Survival, it gets bothersome. The solution around this is to make, or stick to, a server's purpose.
Jamie originally proposed the "Survive" server as a hardcore, thrilling and difficult server, where players could fight it out like true anarchists. When he first gave this idea, I imagined that there would be little-to-no build protection, stealing/looting would be allowed, no god mode or flying whatsoever, etc. I was expecting it to be a true struggle to stay alive.
Therefore, with these expectations, I was quite unhappy with the result. Obviously, things like stealing, looting and griefing would have to have strong regulations on what is allowed, and what isn't (I think a good idea would be protection allowed on regions against griefing, but not on doors or chests, so people would have to barricade their houses accordingly). Such regulations could simply be discussed based on what we want and what we can do. I'm also aware that the server isn't completely built yet, but I would request that godmode and flying be turned off as soon as possible, so that people start surviving in a truly hardcore way.
    Making Distinct Servers
You might think that these conditions would make survival on the server way too hard. Worry not! The whole point of the Survive server would be for hardcore players who are ready to go all in, surviving with their clans, building locked-down, threatening castles with traps, or hidden underground bases to avoid looters and rivals. If you're not up for that, then the Survival or Classic server would be perfect for you. One of these, at least, should have keep-inventory, flying, godmode, and plenty of other goodies that people go on plugin servers to play with, rather than vanilla. I have little ideas, though, on how to make a stronger distinction between the Classic and Survival server (I think we should start by changing either "Survival" or "Survive" to something more different). Jamie proposed a skylands world, and I think making a skylands linked to Survival, for example, could be a good way to go, but there's some steps of discussions that all the staff and the community should go through before.
What's the point of the Survival and Classic servers? I know the Classic is meant to bring back a map that was many players' favourites, but is that really the best thing to do with a whole server? If the server is only there for reminiscing purposes, then I think there are better ways to go about it (like downloading the map or something through internet). "Survival", to me, seems like the type of place people go to build communities, farms, shops, and have social interactions in friendly ways. It might be better to either turn off pvp or turn on keepinventory, because both combined make for some sketchy ethical restrictions that nobody is sure of.
The Creative and Minigames are perfect examples of extremely dedicated servers. The Creative Server is one where you are in creative mode, so you can build what you want. For this reason, we don't need two creative servers. The Minigames Server has a similar logic; there is no current need for two servers with the same purpose.
    Conclusion
I'd truly appreciate it if, as a staff team and community, we could discuss the purpose of the three survival servers, and make them as dedicated to their purpose as possible. Having too similar servers will confuse guests as they try to pick somewhere to invest in, hoping that they won't need to change servers because they actually would have been happier building on another. As an example, we could make the servers:
"Survival" (shops, no pvp, flying, protection on anything, mob-arena (I have an idea for a 'survival server mob arena'), communities, love and cuddles) "Lawless" (Clans and clan wars, raids, looting, traps, pvp, no godmode, hard difficulty, area protection), "Creative" (you know) "Minigames" (money-making games, classic mob-arena, team and pvp games, spleef, cool command-block original minigames by me) I'm all ears to arguments towards keeping the classic server or against other ideas I've stated. If something is unclear, let me know and I'll elaborate.

Jamie reacted to k3v_o - Bringer of Dark Me for a blog entry, [Updated] Dye'n my hair for Suicide Prevention Charity
As some of you may know through Facebook, I am going to dye my hair for charity, and not just your regular blue or red... I'm going all out rainbow!

This is for RAG week 2013 through the Student Union at my college which is a week where people raise money through different methods for charities in Ireland. the charity I have chosen is Be Aware! which is a Suicide Prevention Charity.

I chose this charity as I have lost a good friend of mine to suicide during last summer of 2012 and for another reason that I would prefer not to say. Also if I raise €75 or more I get free RAG week tickets (RAG week is also a week of inhumane amounts of alcohol and partying).

I am willing to accept donations through PayPal, so if you wish to donate message me and I'll send you my details.

Next Friday I will also upload photos of my new lush hair on both Facebook and a blog post here so you can all enjoy laughing at me...

I'm...... I'm probably not going to enjoy this

    UPDATE!

    2/3/2013

    So here I am. Got my hair done yesterday in Tralee and I must say, looking fine I am The barbers Claude Monte in the square Tralee did my hair for only €20 for the bleaching and dyed my hair and cut it for free so that was really cool of them to charge so little. I would have uploaded them yesturday... But I was exhausted after the week so I went to bed instead. Also I was not able to do Rainbow as it would be too expensive and also by the time college starts after RAG week the dye would have ran into eachother. So instead I went blue. Anyway;

    Heres my hair:

As you can see it is a bit purple ATM, but once I wash a few times then re-dye it should be a nice blue colour. Also, sorry about the picture quality... took it with my phone a few times and that was the best one so you'll have to live with it for a while until I can put up a decent RAG week photo of it.

Finally, in the week I had to raise money for Be Aware, I raised a total of €200. I also earned 2 sets of tickets along with that so I am going to sell the other lot for €30 making back the loss of getting my hair done plus another €10 for myself "Imported Juice" during RAG week.

JR has had many design changes in it's 9 years... yeah I think 9 years of existence. Some good, some bad. My website development and designing, IT career basically started here.

JR has taught me so much just by working on it and working and chatting to the community!

Recently I have had a long pause of development at JR and a huge break this is due to a lot that has been happening with my personal life, I have recently moved out from home, so I am now renting my own place and paying all my bills (Hard at first but becomes easier with time) I now have a full time job, I will not release where I am working for legal reasons due to my position and I am working full time.

Now I have a little more time to allocate though to my social life and well.. JR Life, since everything is settling down and I'm able to relax, think straight and have a bit more creativity within my website as you may have been able to see! I'd like to thank Xemnes with playing a huge part with graphics design for me as I have had an issue with photoshop and thank myself for actually having a bit of creativity for a change.

Anyway, more good things to come, if you like the changes please help us at JR by donating to us using paypal to sales@jrnetwork.net all money will be used to run our gaming servers and website servers, while I do have some extra money with all the bills I do pay I can't pay everything and JR can be a major drain from my pocket!

I hope you like the changes, please comment below on what you think so far during development and if you'd like to see any certain features get added to the website!

    For now guys, Peace!

well hear it goes my first blog, hope you like it
walking down the stairs on Christmas day, I when through all the gifts Santa had given me this year and well it seems I have been very good this year as what do I find in upon my chair (in are house all gifts are placed on individual chairs)
a new phone! and so far the Samsung galaxy ace 2 hasn't given me one bit of trouble, the touch screen is big but of a size I can comfortable fit inside my pocket, and is so much easier to use than my old HTC and plays movies from YouTube without stopping once and with email built in its like having a laptop I can put in my pocket it. even has sat nav built in with Google maps and when I haven't any WiFi it only costs a £1.00 a day to use data and after that O2 stop charging.
this phone is a great value for money because its from Santa so its free, and to me is better than most of the new phones out there,
far instance my sister who has a Samsung galaxy S2 wouldn't buy the S3 because there's effectively no difference other than an even larger screen
and I wouldn't buy the S3 because its just my phone with a larger screen, and I d not want nor need a bigger screen because I can play the piano on my phone , so why would I need a bigger screen?
and the piano isn't the only app I have gotten since Christmas, with millions of free apps in the easily accessible 'play store' I have all ready got a large collection and it takes no time at all to access then and load them
to sum up this phone is to me the best phone your money could buy with value in mined cause its basically the S2 but better and far less money even if your not getting it from Santa

Jamie reacted to IgbarX for a blog entry, You must know this information!
Okay! Let's get one thing straight right here, right now! I was demoted to moderator, yes. This is true. Not sure how, but I wasn't helpful to others, which I guess is half true, but, seems a bit... sketchy. Before I left for Holland a while ago, I was always willing to help and be nice. But after my (Awful) vacation, I didn't feel the same. I didn't want to help, didn't want to build, didn't even want to play Minecraft. So, blame my parents for that part! Forcing me to go somewhere I didn't want to! >_> Anyway, I'm not going to be one of those people who say:

'Well, I won't have enough time for JRCraft, I find this unfair, I'm going to be annoying' etc etc etc. So, what will Iggy do? Well, let me put it this way:

Look, I'm a staff member, that means I solve problems. Not practical problems like 'how to craft wood', because that would fall under the problems of the Minecraft wiki. I solve serious problems. For instance, how do I stop some big mean hacking griefer from destroying every house in the world? The answer, is a ban hammer. And if that don't work, use MORE ban hammer. Like, this big ol' hammer built by me, used by me, and you best hope, not used on you.

Anyway, I hope no one thinks lesser of me because my name isn't red and begins with {A}, but nevertheless, it happened. Deal with it. However, I can get my position back IF I'm more helpful, which I don't find I can do because, well, I (personal opinion here) think that I'm at least useful. So, letting you know here, and everything. By the way, you should have seen my face when the little message came up in my inbox called 'Demotion'. It was kind of funny.

This was supposed to be a blog about coming back to JR and why I've been gone.

But looks like y'all gotta wait a week. Ive been grounded from my computer for a week because of me forgetting to get water to a chicken, which he should expect by now, I am forgetful as hell. I barely remember to put them out and in during the morning and night. Honestly this wouldn't bother me (well besides ban from computer) but it did today because of what he said about me doing it.

"I was trying to force you to share an interest with me..."

Am I the only one who'd be annoyed by that statement as a teenager from his parent? I'm sorry but I do. I didn't say anything about this, being good with some willpower, but that just irritates me. I've tried sharing interests with him, but I just can't enjoy them.
Watching football games, woodworking, dog agility(I did enjoy it but he just started getting on my back about it all the time) and golf. And golf is only when my brother-in-law comes up. Never once has he shared an interest with me. Never. Never tried one of my things.

So this is my message ab

    *sigh*

So, after I get off work, most days I'll browse the forums, especially if I haven't gotten much of a chance to get on in the past few days. Most days I'm greeted by awesome updates from Jamie, or information on the next big thing on the server. But some days, I'm greeted by......well, pure, unadulterated genius.
    -------------------------------------
For the unflogged and uninitiated, the Advice Corner is where I post tidbits of information forwarded to you great people for the sole purpose of making your lives easier, and quite possibly the lives of everyone around you. I do so not demanding that you think or behave exactly as I do, instead simply to share life experiences and things that might make your day suck a little less.

Discussion is encouraged, flaming is not, and especially in the case of things that are related to the JR community, I don't name names and *neither* *will* *you*. That way lies flamewars, and there will be none of that.
    -------------------------------------

Today we're talking about the much-vaunted concept of "freedom of speech".

The term "freedom of speech" is pretty much what it sounds like. An individual is free to express his opinions and beliefs, whatever they may be, without fear of legal reprisal, and is protected from reprisal from outside entities under the law. Whether or not whatever is said offends people can be an important question, but legally, not relevant.

Under this concept, an individual is in fact allowed to walk down the street proclaiming that Hitler was right and they are a walking jelly donut, destined to be eaten by the masses. Just because they can say it doesn't make it true, but they can say it without being accosted by the law, and are protected by the law from people seeking to do physical and psychological harm because of said comment.

Like all basic freedoms, however, this one ends when it infringes on the rights of others. Pertinent example: Individual 'A' thinks the world is going to end. So he stands in the driveway of a house owned by individual 'B', demanding repentance from passersby. 'A' has the right to free speech, he can say whatever he wants. 'B' comes out of the house, and demands that 'A' leave. Who gets what they want?

Since the property is owned by 'B', he has sovereignty on his own land. After asking 'A' to leave, if 'A' doesn't, he is infringing on 'B's right to sovereignty. While 'A's right to freedom of speech doesn't exactly end in whole, it does end in that particular spot, since standing where he was infringes on someone else's rights. He can still say whatever he wants, he just has to do it someplace else.

Examples aside, let's boil down to the issue that prompted this wonderfully long speech: Free speech in Minecraft.

    Short version? Doesn't exist.

Seriously, it doesn't. Players are no longer in their home, on their country's soil. They are on the "soil" of the owner of the server. As owner, he has sovereignty, and a player's freedom of speech doesn't apply on someone else's property. The player can say whatever he wants to at his house, or on the street, but then they aren't infringing on the rights of the property owner by spouting on his lawn.

It's also not particularly intelligent to anger the people the owner has hired and given the express ability to determine when, where, and how to kick people off the lawn. Making sure the meaning of what's being said is clearly understood by both sides in a limited chat environment is very important, but I'll cover that next article.

In short, try not to piss people off. Especially not the local law.

Jamie got a reaction from Zolacolor for a blog entry, A little about why I don't talk much.
I have decided to just make this thread / blog about why I don't get much time to talk. Please don't rage, take offence or cause arguments and just take this in and understand it.

Why do I say I'm busy, Why don't I reply some times and Why do I just disappear...

I have had some recent hateful emails and skype messages complaining that I do nothing on JR. So let me explain a couple of things:

Firstly, I do ALL of the behind the scenes stuff, well 99% of it. I get help sometimes from Ant and Calystos, but most of the time its me. What you see here now on JR, is a result of my templating, custom coding, configuration etc. If I didn't ignore users and take the time to do this JR would be dead.

Secondly, I do listen to the community all the time, JR is community driven. I may not reply, but hell I listen. I watch every topic, post and reply on the site, I have a dedicated window open all the time watching and waiting for new comments around JR.

Thirdly, At JR we have nearly 8000 members, You must understand to manage a website with this amount of members and resulting traffic causes a heavy workload, I'm currently at the moment trying to recruit more staff, bring in more ideas to make things easier for us all. I don't have time to point everyone in the right direction. Sometimes I do have the time and I will when I do. But most of the time, I don't so please don't complain if I don't reply to small messages on where to find this and that. It's self explanatory and the staff are here for a reason.

Lastly, At JR, for some reason I'm expected to know and reply to everything and everyone. I login to JR and I get 15 - 20 small questions that you can find firstly on the Wiki at http://mcwiki.jrnetwork.net/ at help commands such as /gettingstarted - /warp howto and members on the site, seriously, the questions most people ask are simple, You need to start looking it up around the documentation we provide.

Also! You do know we have staff right?! Helpers, Minecraft Grief Police, Moderators and Admins are here for a reason, to deal with the community and put less pressure on me right around JR.

Ask a member of staff for help and not me, Then I will get less workload and I will have time to have a bit of fun and actually join in more.

    Minecraft Related:

I have been complained at many times that I don't get much time to do ingame work, or help in the Minecraft server. Please note there are tons of reasons why! Here is just some of them

    1) I care for the community, I like to see it flourish and I make the server the best I can make it, I'm constantly updating plugins, configuring different things so they don't cause conflicts, issues and lag. It's always in my best interest to keep the community happy with the stability of our Minecraft server.

    2) People say I forget the MC community. I don't. I constantly make sure the server is up all of the time. There are times where yes I can't reply to messages, skype calls, and / or different forms of contacting me.

    3) I'm always innovating and saying to my self, how can I make MC better on JR. I have bought a new server specially for it, I have configured most things amazingly, but again there are updates to install each day and with most updates there is a ton of reconfiguration or tweaks so the plugin runs better.

    4) I'm not here to work on small things such as how to use commands, rollback griefs, If I have time I will help you, If I don't reply I'm away or seriously busy with different things on the server.

Look, I'm not saying don't contact me, I'm always happy to reply to everyone I can, but if I don't reply remember. Don't Rage, Don't Complain and Wait. I do ignore people who constantly ask for me, for good reason. I will reply eventually, You can email me at jamie@jrnetwork.net at any time and wait for an answer, but please look around for help if its simple stuff, Don't think that I'm the only person that can sort it.

I hope you can understand why I have posted this.

Wow, has it been a while that I've put this off now. No particular reason, I just keep procrastinating on this topic. Now seems like a good time to put it into physical context though. This is kind of to get to things off of my chest.

[1] What has recently been happening with staff.
[2] Everyone that has told me I should apply for a Helper position.

I'm going to start with the first one there, as I think my response to that matter can be put simply: It doesn't affect me, so I don't care what happened. As always, I'm sad to see any staff member be removed, for whatever reason(s), and for whatever length of time. But the fact of the matter is that I'm not involved in it in any way, shape, or form. Moreover, I am not a staff member. Will it affect my ability to play on the server? No, and therefore, I couldn't care less about whatever happened, and/or what the effect of it will be.

That ties nicely into what I promised I would write about in my next blog: why I would turn down Helper should it be offered to me. Before I found JR, I was so disgusted with the servers out there that I had my own. Unlike someone who believed that he could run a huge, 100 person server, I kept it realistic. I had it strictly for family and close personal friends. I actually had it up until the point where I registered for JR. At that point, I told everyone that had access to it why I shut it down, and I turned it off.

There isn't even anything wrong with it; I could power up the machine and it would automatically start back up (I had it on a small, but dedicated box). A lot of these people that used to have access to my server still won't talk to me. I had my server for one reason: I wanted to be able to play with people that I trusted, and I wanted to be able to fly around while I built.

As I said I was always disgusted with other servers, I also have never before in my life donated to a server in any way, for a donator rank or just because I thought the server deserved it. The closest I've ever come to actually giving money for Minecraft-related things (besides actually buying Minecraft) was giving $10 to rodox for his telethon when his house burned down (or whatever it was). In return I got a nice door added to the Painterly Pack in my name (modeled like a window, so that it looks more modern). But I digress, that's a bit off topic.

I guess my point here is that I love JR. I love it for multiple reasons, and while I'll try to list all of them here, I guarantee I'll think of a few more in a few hours.
I never have to question if all the work I've done will be ruined. (Kudos to Jamie on that - I've never before seen a server give basic WorldEdit perms to it's standard members!)
I always know that I'm not going to jump on at a wrong time and hear language, etc. that I just don't want to hear.
I can almost always say that I would consider at least one person who is online a friend.
The JR Forums are some of the most highly organized and efficient that I've ever seen, so staying on the Forums for hours at a time is just a pleasure!
There is always something to do, if I should get tired of building whatever it is I'm building at the moment. With two (currently) MobArenas, CTF, TDM, Thunderstorm, Spleef, PvP, a true anything goes hardcore, HungerGames, Skyblock, and Iggy's infamous 'The Hunt', there is always something to do!
The rules aren't stupid like some other ones I've seen. As far as I'm concerned, JR doesn't even need them - they are all things that I would personally consider common sense.
Even though the server itself is in (unless I'm mistaken) France, I have never had a ping to the server more than 350ms, and I usually don't have anything less than 400ms to servers that are in America! (Excluding my old one of course, since I was on a LAN with the server.)
And as I've said, I'm sure I could think of even more if I let myself ramble on about this!

The point is, I've finally found a place where I just enjoy being a member of the community. I don't even feel this welcome on my college campus, which I'm paying a lot more money to be at (Screw them all)!

Its really for this reason that I won't apply for Helper, and I would turn it down if I was given it without applying. I won't say who has told me that they think I would be a good choice for Helper, but I would like them to know (if they are reading this) that I greatly appreciate them telling me that they believe that.

There is, in my mind, a difference between being helpful, and being a helper. Right now, I'm just loving being a member of a community where I feel like I belong. For this reason, I love being helpful - but that doesn't qualify me for being a Helper. I feel I need to be with JR for at least a little bit longer in order to have the loyalty required to be on the staff team. Even though Helpers are technically staff-in-training, they are in my mind still on the staff team.

I think my thoughts and this blog can best be summed up by a quote from someone who obviously has the same thinking as me.

I don't think I even need to say who uses this in their signature. I think most people will know who it is I'm referring to.
