  1. I've found this setting (which should be a default imo) and added it to the server config files. It should take affect upon the next restart
  2. JR is purely voluntary and as such JR is not at the top of our list of priorities. Jamie has been busy with work this week and he always keeps the weekend for himself as he should to ensure he does get a life outside of JR and work. Liam I assume is working this weekend or is working weird hours which aren't allowing him to be online. I am personally dealing with University deadlines and my brother is visiting me this weekend. We want this to be done, but we want it to be done correctly there is no point rushing something like this.
  3. We don't need ACM, it's a convenience thing; that is more of an inconvenience these days as it doesn't work 95% of the time. Also can you narrow your list of essentials down to 3 mods, we are trying to start off small to ensure maximum compabitility between the mods used.
  4. Whenever I spawn dinos in to replace those people have lost I make sure they are of equal level if not higher @Snowball For the 3 mods I would suggest Structures plus, is there any other way to build on ark? Classic Flyers, And a stacking mod
  5. Levels are tricky with ark when spawning dinos in, thanks to the terrible system they have in place for spawning tamed dinos
  6. How so? It would always ensure the map is at a point where resets do not happen. As after map resets we get about 6 months where they don't start getting reset randomly. JR is a PVE server not a PVP server
  7. So got a bit of a crazy idea here but I want you all to read to the end of this post before replying to it. What is Ark's end game for PVE players ? Breeding dinos and building ? But to what end ? There is no event in the game that given enough time a player can't handle. So what if we create that end game, while ensuring maximum server stability. With the introduction of corrupted dinos in Extinction we have the perfect vehicle for PVE events to create an end-game. What I'm suggesting is every 3 months or so we have a week called "The Corruption" during this week staff will be spawning in high/over leveled corrupted dinos, starting off in the harder areas of the maps and as the week goes on it will progress into the easier areas of the maps. The tribe that survives the longest will be granted a special title for their efforts. After this week the server will be reset. We will find a way to reward players for survivng and maybe based on kills as wild dinos your tamed dinos kill are in the server logs. The rewards will be given after the server reset. This will allow us to reset the map fairly regularly to stop any issues happening, this would allow us to be fairly liberal in our mod choices without worrying too much about long term stability. To this end I think the installation of mods and the removal of mods should be completely restricted to server reset times. Of couse extenuating circumstances may mean we have to remove some mods early if they are causing significant issues. What does everyone think of this? It would give you all something to work towards and could foster more people to make tribes together, just an idea I had earlier that could make the servers more interesting. Also if we do go this route it would allow us to use overhaul mods on the main servers such as Gaia and then remove it after 3 months. This would allow us to explore more with mods and provide you guys with a true varied end game experience. I know this is a complete depature from what we are doing but I feel like with the opportunity we currently have in front of us it could make for a better experience on the server
  8. Reading @MarcusFaren's and @Snowball's posts they both raise certain points. Mods do add new IDs for stuff, however if they are created properly as clean and stackable mods it wouldn't matter about moving dinos from one server that doesn't have the mod to one that does. They should revert to standard vanilla dinos. For example we could uninstall Classic Flyers right now and all your dinos would still be there, just they would no longer be classic flyer versions of the dinos they would revert to vanilla. As far as I'm aware the Aberration and Scorched Earth mods were installed on the appropriate servers and assumed to be clean and stackable, we also had to rush to install them as the last mods we were using for the engrams got pulled from the workshop randomly and stopping people from connecting to the servers. If we do a supply drop as opposed to allowing transfers we would be able to provide downloads to the old maps so that people would be able to play them locally if they wished. We will also realease the mod list so you could carry on with these worlds on your own local game. On @IAMSNOWMAN's concerns about this just being a map reset, we should be setting up a completely new set of servers from scratch to ensure no files are carried over. @heaven I understand what you're going through, you're new to the game and don't want to lose all that you've worked for. However you could look at this in another light, taking all that you've learned so far to improve how you play the game when you start fresh. I found that when playing ark to begin with it was handy to start over as I found better ways to do things and had an idea of what I needed to survive. As the map randomly resetting isn't going to stop overnight, we need to take drastic action to fix this as it is happening so much. I completely understand that you don't want to lose your work, no one does. As we are compensating players with 5 dinos we can make these utility dinos to help you with resource gathering.
  9. I want to start off by saying Ark is a right pain. I hate it when the maps get reset due to updates. The only time it ever happens is during the automated maintenance peroid. I would prefer we do not reset the maps, but due to some of the mods we have installed atm that isn't possible. I feel it is safer to completely restart the servers from scratch essentially to ensure no bad files are carried over, as it could be that some files are corrupted causing issues. I feel like it is only a matter of time before it happens to Extinction as it can take some time for these problems to appear. For example, Ragnarok is internally labelled as "ragn" from when we faced this issue with Ragnarok before where it was resetting nearly everyday. Starting a new server alleviated these issues for about half a year before they returned and started to happen more frequently. As this is now spreading to our other servers and seems to be happening more frequently as of late, it presents an oppurtunity. Start the servers a new, clear the mod list, clear out the server folders of any old files that are no longer needed and may be causing problems. In this situation we need to take away the positives rather than look at the negatives and to that end I believe I have a solution to minimising the lose of dinos / items and player characters. The ark servers are currently stressing me out ontop of my University workload, and I find myself less willing to spend time on JR because of it. I spoke to Jamie through our Management chat on Discord earlier. We do have the resources avaliable on our dedicated server to start up another Island server. We could use this server as a bridge, allowing users to transfer dinos and other resources to it from the other servers before we reset them. This new server will not be reset and will serve as our new island server. After giving everyone one an appropriate amount of time to transfer their items (one or two weeks should be plenty), dinos and characters to this server we then reset the other maps and only use the same mods we are running on the new island server. We will run minimal mods on this server to ensure maximum stability in the long term. I am of the opinion after deciding on a core group of mods we leave it at least a month before installing more to ensure none of the mods we start with have any issues. I believe that this is the best issue to allow the long term players to lose as little as possible while still allowing us to reset the servers.
  10. When you transferred to the island it should have presented you with the respawn screen, and you select a respawn spot. As you created a new character your old character has been lost. You're best off making a new tribe.
  11. Once you get back to the island you'll be able to promote him to tribe admin yourself
  12. I'm loading into aberration now. If you login I will be able to provide you with an s+ tek transmitter to get back to the island
  13. I don't have ark fully setup on my pc atm. Will see what I can do about your character though
  14. Your character is on the aberration server then, you will have to transfer it back to the island. You will have to use an obelisk to get that character back to the island.
  15. Did you transfer your character to another server in the cluster ?
