    This is the first announcement of a few of some of the upcoming interesting and exciting events happening on JR as we speak!
    Website
    First of all, we have a new exciting change to our website as we are redesigning the look and feel to be a bit easier to use, it's more simplistic and we are working on all areas so it'll be quicker to load and more intuitive. If you'd like to try the new look and feel be my guest. It's publicly available but still in beta. To enable this new look and feel at the bottom of the website you will find a Change Theme. Click on JR anniversary and you are signed up to the beta programme immediately.
    I have changed multiple things around the site and you will see them kick in, such as colorful usernames around the site, a menu bar which changes when you scroll. A back to the top scroll link. Updates to our mobile website to get more mobile and more!
    Any changes I make will be on JR Anniversary.

    Security
    JR takes security very seriously and we have now enabled two factor authentication, this allows you to setup security questions as well as use Google Authenticator which is a mobile app that quickly gives you a code when you sign in to JR. I am personally very excited for this change. If you are a staff member please note that you have to setup some form of two factor authentication due to website security.
    If you have logged in to JR today being a member you will have likely already setup this method due to our notification system. If you have not please make sure you enable it as this will give you a second line of defence. You can modify this method or enable it here: https://jrnetwork.net/settings/account-security/
    Server
    JR is committed to speed up and keep it's servers secure. This is why in the next 6 months we will be switching to PHP 7 for all our webservers. Please note if you have a website that doesn't support PHP 7 yet you may want to look at updating your website if it's hosted by JR's hosting services. We have also made a few tweaks and updates to our servers to make them a little faster and handle better. In the next 12 months we will be upgrading our hardware and switching servers. While we have a method for this to be seamless it may cause a little downtime of up to an hour at max. A mass mail will be sent out to everyone stating that we will be changing servers just before we do so.
    Staff Grouping
    I will be changing how staff is grouped soon to make it easier for members of the public to understand. While Admins and Moderators will be still around I will be removing gaming staff, website team, content manager to make things more easy and more friendly. Instead of dividing the team I'd like the team to be involved with every service and if you meet a staff member that is moderator or admin, they will be on every server instead of only Minecraft.
    Gaming
    While gaming is our main outlet, Minecraft is not. I will be continuing on the updating of Minecraft but we will be pursuing other areas of games, We don't foresee removing any of our gaming servers but we will be adding more and strengthening the services that we provide.
    Conclusion
    We all are trying to make JR a better place. I hope these changes and this news article will cement some understanding on everything going on behind the scenes with myself and some of the other team. We will make JR into a better place for gaming and technology. There will be more coming soon and any news for JR will be posted on the News area and not in the forum.
    We want to hear what you have to say
    Please post in the comments what you think of JR, it's changes. Features you like and don't like. Every comment will be looked at and we will attempt to use all the suggestions we get in someway.
    Thanks for staying at JR and if you are new. Welcome to the JR Network.

    Kyle got a reaction from Jamie for news, JR Craft Classic
    JR Craft Classic
    JR is currently undergoing massive changes, which we hope will bring a new lease of life into the server. Jamie and the rest of the JR Staff team have been working to bring you a new server, Classic. It will host one of the old worlds we used to have on JR (arguably the best one we've had). The hope is this will bring back in some of you older members, whilst at the same time be just another added feature for newer members. The map is the exact same one it used to be so should still contain all your old builds.
    To join, connect to play.jrcraft.net and use the command /server classic .
    The server is equipped with many familiar plugins that we've used in the past, including clans, chestshop, and more! Unfortunately we were unable to recover homes but we do have a dynmap up to help you find any old builds. We hope to add many new features as well.
    Premium

    We are committed to making this a success and hope some of you can support us! We are currently in the process of improving the premium rank for the server for those of you wanting to support us. Currently as a premium member you get these perks:
    /flyspeed /setwarp - give other players easy access to your shops and buildings.  /back - so you don't lose items/xp on death. /vanish Create signs with colours. /clan create - create your own clan. Create hats /god Chat in colour (using colour codes &1, &2 ect) /tp We hope to expand these perks in the future and are always open to new suggestions for perks. So please let us know if you have any suggestions! If you wish to support us you can purchase premium here.
    Suggestions
    If you have any feedback please feel free to leave a comment or contact one of the team and we'll definitely make sure to respond it. If you have any suggestions, please tell us! It all really helps

    Kind Regards,
    JR Staff Team

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Google's Project Arya pushed back to 2016 release
    Phonebloks came up with the concept of Project Arya with Google taking over it last year.The first batch of Arya devices were scheduled for release in selected markets later this year with the original testing phase going to take place in Puerto Rico. However as it appears Google wants to push back the arrival of it's Project Arya.
    It has been revealed through the Project Arya Twitter account that they are now searching for locations within the US to test the device and include a marketplace so developers can see their modules for the phone. Arya has been delayed due to "lots of iterations" that have been created, far more than Google first anticipated it would create. It seems as if Google is still trying to approach Project Arya in the right way so that it can be successful product.

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Editorial: Batman Arkham Origins
    It is true that Arkham Origins is a game that is two years old. I also purchased Arkham Asylum and Arkham City long after they were released, I like playing games that have reached the end of their development. It allows me to evaluate the creators of the game. Arkham Asylum and City I didn't have any problems with them, although I have not played them on my current configuration so I am unaware if there was any major problems with them that regarding FPS, as I was only playing on a low end system at the time. However I do not recall either games being unplayable due to poor performance. I'm personally not a fan of buying games when they are released, I like to wait a while for multiple reasons. 1) It allows the developers to fix any bugs that may put me off playing the game entirely 2) The later I buy it the cheaper I can get it. 3) I can still push the limits of my system by buying the game after the initial release.
    My System;
    AMD FX-8350 @ 4Ghz
    Patriot Viper 3 Ram 8GB @ 1600Mhz
    ASUS STRIX GTX 970 (OC'ed to 1400Mhz Core, 7500Mhz VRAM)
    So lets start with the pros of the game. I rather enjoyed the story of the game, it seemed to be at a sensible pace. Had a good mix of different aspects incorporated to the game which will make up the side quests that are completed within the game. I found Gotham to be of a reasonable size, it wasn't too big nor too small. It strikes a good balance for the size of the game, considering the events of the game all take place in the space of a single night. It's quite crazy to think about when I have 15 hours in the game. The training area within the bat cave gives nice small challenges that can be completed to hone your skills, while I pretty much ignored this while I was playing the story, I tried it once I finished the story. It wasn't anything all that special just gave you objectives to complete while fighting enemies, in that sense it is a success as it aims to get you thinking about different ways you can approach fights within the city of Gotham. Sadly I believe that is about all I have for the pros, I feel like the cons really do outweigh the pros for this game.
    Time for the cons of the game, and it has many. Even after having finished development, it took me all of about 10 minutes to find a game breaking bug within the first tutorial mission which required me to restart the game multiple times to actually get past the first boss fight. I found Killer Croc would start to disappear and flicker after I reached a certain point in the fight, this rendered him virtually invisible while also breaking the sound of the game which would magically come back after I died. After facing this issue a couple of times, I started to think I was getting somewhere with this boss fight, he didn't turn invisible and I kept sound, this was however before the screen just went black. The HUD was still there just nothing else I could hear the sound of the game, but I was unable to fight as I was rendered blind by the game. I don't see how they saw this as being acceptable when the game had finished development including patches. It isn't just me who reported this problem either, I found a plethora of other people who suffered the same problems with the game throughout a lot of them with high end hardware just like myself. Another absolutely game breaking problem I discovered was Blackgate prison, regardless of what settings I had the game on I would consistantly have lower than 60fps and it fight sequences I would have 15fps at the most, I found this absolutely unplayable. I resorted to downloading a trainer so I could actually get past these points, I do not endorse the use of trainers as they are used for cheating and can cause problems with the game. This was a game from 2013 which my graphics card from 2015 was struggling to get decent frames on, I'm not the only one either. I saw people with GTX 780 Ti's reporting similar problems. I brought my graphics card to push games to their limits, not suffer low FPS especially in single digits. I believe 60FPS should be a standard for games as they flow a lot better. Problems like this put off of games altogether, I believe the poor performance of this game on PC should have served as a lesson to Warner Bros yet they still managed to wreck Arkham Knight for PC users. Another problem I had with the game is that the end of the game seemed to be very rushed, I would have liked to seen the story developed more at the end. The ending seemed abrupt, I was expecting a lot more from the game. Even if the developers just put in some of the side missions as main missions it would have extended the story ever so slightly.

    Kyle reacted to damsch12 for news, Google is making changes on Youtube
    The new YouTube player shows a cleaner interface. If you usually watch videos during a break at the office or at home, you might have noticed something different.
    Google has changed the player controls bar, now this bar instead of being solid is translucent. This new design looks cleaner and its more in line with the company current standard. The changes are visible in every web browser and mobile devices.

    Kyle reacted to IAMSNOWMAN for news, Ark: Survival Evolved
    Good evening fellow Survivors and Adventurers of the interwebs

    Tonight I am writing about a game in which I've currently spent 145 hours venturing far and wide in a prehistoric world after being stranded on an island inhabited by history's most interesting yet horrifying and largest family of Predator / Prey to walk the earth we know so well

    As the title says I am speaking about ARK: Survival Evolved
    Ark: Survival Evolved is an action-adventure survival game that uses a first person perspective, with the ability to use a third person perspective depending on player preference and choice. The Goal of the Game is to survive, and to do this players must establish a base, make friend or foe and use the thermal system to their advantage by creating fire's and clothes to protect them from the Brisk temperatures of the dark and rainy nights whilst also taking advantage of the rainy cycles and rivers / Oceans of the island to maintain their hydration

    The game itself also offers additional activities, such as taming and feeding the beasts that roam the worlds map which is also known as the "Ark". The Ark is approximately 48 square kilometers in size which totals up to approximately 36 square kilometers of land mass, with 12 square kilometers of ocean.
    To build a base, players must gain structure components—such as floors, doors and windows—which are earned as they progress and gain levels. These components can be crafted, and placed in the world. Players can create any structure, as long as they have the logistics and resources; the structural integrity of the building is compromised when the pillars and foundations are destroyed. Players can also craft items in the game, such as weapons, which can be achieved by collecting the resources and technology required for crafting. In addition, players can craft and attach accessories to their weapons, such as a scope or flashlight for a pistol or machine gun. Should players take damage, their health meter will gradually regenerate if they have consumed the necessary food, or if they craft items that regenerate the health meter at a faster pace.
    There are sixty types of dinosaurs in the game.The dinosaurs in the game can be tamed by feeding it food. Once a dinosaur is tamed, players have access to the dinosaur's abilities, such as flight or fast underwater / land movement, as well as its statistics, such as speed, health and damage. When the access to these abilities are gained, players lose control of their personal weapons but gain control of a much larger and more destructive weapon (that being their beast of choice)

    So what will you do?

    "Remember you don't have to run fast, Just faster than your friends"

    Kyle got a reaction from  Chris for news, Miegakure : A Puzzle-Platformer in 4 Dimensions.
    In this game the fourth dimension is not time, something that is commonly perceived to be a dimension, instead there is a fourth spatial dimension. If you included time you could even say this game is in 5 dimensions. At first the idea of a 4th dimension seems very hard to visualise, luckily the creator has put together a video that explains it.

    In short the game takes a 3D slice of a 4D object, similar to how a photo is a 2D slice of a 3D object. With such an unusual concept, it is no surprise it has already received 2 awards and was been nominated for 3 others - despite still not being released. In total the game has been in development for over 5 years.

    So for those of you looking for a new indie title to give a go, this is definitely one to watch out for! There is no official release date yet, but hopefully one will be announced soon. In the mean time, if you wish to find out more you can visit the games official website http://miegakure.com/

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Netflix wants to get rid of geographical restrictions
    Netflix has only just launched in Australia and while the subscription service is entirely legal, technically speaking however using a VPN to access content from outside your region is not. For movie and TV studios, geographical based licensing agreements are a major part of their business. However according to Netflix CEO, Reed Hasting, the VPN problem can be fixed if companies would offer content globally without imposing geographical restrictions.

    Hastings believes, that VPNs are a very small-scale issue in the face of actual piracy and the use of VPNs is so easy to make obsolete: "The VPN thing is a small little asterisk compared to piracy. Piracy is really the problem around the world."

    VPN users are clearly willing to pay for the content, they just can't get the content which they want to watch locally: "The basic solution is for Netflix to get global and have its content be the same all around the world so there's no incentive to use a VPN. Then we can work on the more important part which is piracy."

    The root cause of VPN usage and traditional piracy, in some cases, is lack of availability. But it is yet to be seen if the traditional media studios will make the switch and begin using global licensing, as opposed to using region licenses.

    Kyle reacted to Carter for news, Nintendo's Huge Announcement
    Yesterday (March 17th, 2015), Nintendo made an official announcement about several things.

    The first of which was the production of their newest console, the Nintendo NX. All that has been said about this by Iwata (Nintendo's President) was that it will be a new "dedicated game system...with a brand new concept." Little else has been revealed about the console and it seems we will still be a bit in the dark on this new machine until most likely 2016. In opposition to what the article (link at bottom) says, I personally believe this will be a new "version" of the Wii U due to Nintendo often re-releasing consoles but with something different or updated about them (Ref. The New 3DS XL and the Wii without Gamecube controller slots (what was the point??)) There were possible rumors of a "Nintendo Fusion" a fan made nickname, which would be akin to the Wii U, but with more power and on board memory, more of a console that would be meant to compete with the other two giants, Playstation and Xbox, as opposed to filling it's own little niche.

    The second thing that came up was something that honestly makes me quite happy. It is fairly common knowledge that emulators run rampant on PC and mobile devices, with even some of the younger kids (like third grade) with Gameboy emulators on their iPods/phones. Nintendo finally has wizened up to this and while they have adamantly fought going into mobile gaming, have finally decided to bring games to mobile phones, tablets, and (the most exciting for me) to PC. What their plan is is to create a sort of cloud based account, that lets you log in on your 3DS, Wii U, Tablet, Ipod, PC or NX to play your games (? I'm going strictly off the small amount of information I have.) For me this is wonderful since I don't exactly have the money to buy a new console. Or really any console. So if I could play all these games from my computer that would be amazing, there are so many games coming out or that are out that I really want to play but just can't.

    Well that's a little sum up of Nintendo's recent announcements. What are your guy's thoughts on these announcements?

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, JR Reforms
    At JR we believe in working to our absolute potential so the staff are going to undergo some changes as of 1st March 2015 in addition to this we will also have a new website coming soon. We are going to be splitting off into different teams as decided by Caly/Jamie with input from us staff members as to what we'd like to do ourselves. In the spirit of keeping the community informed I am writing this news article (it also happens to be my new job )

    Currently the new staff structure stands at:

    Owners
    Jamie
    Calystos

    Systems Management - These lovely people will be in charge of the server systems, website configurations and more.

    Jamie
    Calystos
    Teozfrank

    Community Management - This awesome team will be in charge of all of JR's social accounts. They will also manage the website content and decide what we as a community will be implementing before referring to a higher level for authorization.

    FrostBlast - Manager
    Chris
    Rugtugba
    Daisuke
    Jeddy

    Gaming Management - These amazing people will be in charge of managing gaming servers, regarding moderation, support and information. This is not limited to our minecraft servers either, these people will work on all of our servers.

    AnioNovus - Manager
    SwitchShotJolt1
    commanderAIK
    k2trf
    rstoy
    Reon / Vyrus - Manager (TBC) <- Some lovely people from JRTX

    Content Management - This is the best team in my opinion; we obviously have the best team in all of JR In content management we're going to be managing all the articles you see on JR such as this one, blogs and calendar events. This is to make JR your go to place to find out when a new game release is etc our content will not just be JR related

    Chris - Manager (Can you see where my bias comes from? )
    damsch12
    Kyle
    Carter

    There will be a new ranking system implemented on the forums, in game will be slightly different. This will all be communicated to you in due time and we will be having a ranks guide page put up on here so everyone knows who is who . While this new system will be a hierarchy based for decision making all staff will remain equal as one another. Us staff are being given more power to make decisions that affected JR. The idea of the hierarchy is to filter out what does and doesn't need to be dealt with by a certain management team. Each management team has its own manager in they are responsible for administering other people in their team. This also includes recruiting new members of staff who would suit a certain area. In our management groups any issues are discussed between them and with the manager of that group before any other management group is involved.

    The new Hierarchy is as follows
    Owner > System Management > Community Management > Gaming|Content Management

    We are doing this so we as a team are able to get JR back up and running with a larger community and everyone will know what they are doing. This system should improve JR in the long run after the confusion in the short term

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Windows 10 upgrade free for owners of Windows 7 and 8.1
    Fresh news from Microsoft's painfully aspirational Windows 10 briefing. Owners of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 will be eligible for a free upgrade to Microsoft's upcoming OS. The free upgrade will be available throughout the first year of Windows 10's life.

    That's a pretty big deal—Microsoft no doubt realises that people are hanging on happily to Windows 7, but the chance of a free upgrade could prove tempting. For PC gamers, it'll mean free access to DirectX 12, which won't be supported by Windows 7.

    We'll have more from the briefing as it happens. For the most part, it's just a series of people saying "devices" in different degrees of sincerity and urgency.

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, A smaller, cheaper Xbox One is apparently in the works
    AMD has apparently created a smaller and more cost-effective 20nm version of the processor found inside the Xbox One, opening the door for a slimmer and cheaper version of the console. During the last generation of consoles, we saw Microsoft release a re-designed Xbox 360 a few years in to the console’s life cycle but the Xbox One may see a re-design much sooner.

    This news comes from the Linkedin bio of AMD’s Senior Manager of SOC systems. The bio states that he “successfully planned and executed the first APU for Microsoft’s Xbox One Game Console in 28nm technology and a cost-reduced derivative in 20nm technology.”

    Currently the Xbox One and PS4 processors are 28nm and according to the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing company, which is behind the production of Sony and Microsoft’s processors, a 20nm version of the chip could turn out to be up to 30 per cent faster or consume 25 per cent less power.

    While a 20nm chip could be faster, Microsoft is unlikely to alienate early console adopters by releasing a more powerful Xbox One, it is likely that it would use the smaller chip for decreased power consumption, allowing the company to release a slim model, which could perhaps back a power supply inside of the case and rival the PS4 for size.

    Being able to downsize the Xbox One would help reduce manufacturing costs too, cutting down on construction materials and packaging. Interestingly enough though, Microsoft appears to be looking to streamline the console in other areas as well, the company is currently looking for an electrical engineer to develop a “memory subsystem” and then evaluate “different solution options for performance, functionality, stability, cost and risk”.

    This news suggests that AMD has incorporated measures in to both the Xbox One and PS4 to ensure that the transition to a smaller fabrication technology can happen much faster this generation. This in turn suggests that Sony and Microsoft may be preparing for a much shorter console life cycle this time around.

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, JR Server Creative Competition!
    Hey everyone,

    The creative server has undergone a massive clear out. We have emptied out every single plot as the world did become a bit of a mess. The idea here is that we have nice fancy looking builds around the spawn, which will be selected by the staff team over the course of the worlds existence. This competition will run over the course of a month (8th September - 8th October). Each build should be confined to a plot, we will be picking 4 winners for this contest!

    The builds should fill up as much of the plot as possible.
    The builds are to be built on the creative server.

    The prizes are currently undecided but will be announced in the near future, once the staff team has decided upon them

    There are no restrictions on how many people build your entry but remember prizes are limited and will be split between groups if required! I would not recommend more than two or three people to build one spawn.

    Entry thread:

    Kind Regards,

    The JR Staff Team

    Hey everybody,

    At JR we are going to be undergoing some changes from about 8PM UTC on Saturday the 14th June. We will attempt to minimise downtime, we are going to put the forums into maintenance mode for a little while, shouldn't be more than an hour.

    Changes to ranks staff and member ranks alike!
    Forum layout changes!
    Minecraft server changes!

    Needless to say there will be massive changes happening around JR in the future. This is just the start of many great things to come

    Kyle got a reaction from  Chris for news, Bendable Electronics
    The name given to the product is ‘Printoo’ and it aims to make the technology available to the public so they can develop what they like with it, this is a big step as although this technology may have been in development before, this is the first time it has been made publically available in such a way. This will be infinitely useful to those in the DIY community as it is the first commercially available flexible, paper thin circuit board meaning it can be attached to anything, from cans to clothes to toys.

    This isn’t the first we’ve ever seen of paper thin technology, others such as Duracell have used paper thin technology for a small while now (such as in the battery life tester). I’m sure with this new technology we may see companies finally following in their example and releasing products with similar technology, allowing for a lot more things to be brought to life with paper thin LED displays.

    Kyle got a reaction from Jamie for news, New LG Smart Watch Announced, Powered by Android Wear
    Among one of the first devices that has been reported to be using the software will be the LG G Watch, it is set to release next quarter and is said to have features such as the always-on voice commands that will respond with the now fairly well known 'Ok Google'.

    Although Smart Watches are said to be the first use of the software, Google has stated it hopes the software will eventually extent to other wearable's. In many ways the designers aimed to make it an extension of the service 'Google now', allowing the user to use voice commands to do things like requestion fight times, make reservations, send texts and more. It will also offer informations based on the time of the day and other factors. Those of you with an android phone may have noticed it provides convenient information based on recent searches, places you often travel and more. Finally there is a high chance it will have a 'cast' ability, allowing it to link with the http://jrnetwork.net/news/content/tech/google-chromecast-uk-possible-release-date-leak-r341.

    LG will definitely be a key launch partner for Android Wear. The smart phone maker is hoping the launch will allow it to leapfrog others in the market such as Samsung by providing a lower barrier for developers, who won't have to learn a new language or build from scratch to design software for Android Wear, unlike a rival software Tizen.

    I definitely think this is a step in the right direction for wearable technology and something that seems like it has a realistic chance of sticking around (unlike Google Glass).

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Google Chromecast UK Possible Release Date Leak
    Google’s Chromecast TV streaming dongle is to go on sale on Wednesday according to a leaked inventory.
    According to a leaked document from Dixon’s the Google Chromecast streaming dongle is set for release on March 19th.

    The dongle has been on sale in the US since last summer, it allows users to stream internet content such as youtube and NetFlix onto their TV screens.

    The website Android Police obtained a screenshot of a Dixons inventory detailing the sales timing of “one of the biggest products this year from Google” at 9am on Wednesday March 19. While it is not explicitly stated the product is the Google Chromecast. The amount of rumours circulating around the product’s launch in the UK, it seems to be very likely.

    The Chromecast plugs into HDMI ports which are generally used by DVD players and Cable boxes, connects to the user’s WiFI network and allows for Android devices, iPhones, iPads and Chrome on Mac and Windows to act as a remote control for the TV. It can also provide the user increased access to the internet from their TV.

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Xbox One controllers are compatible with PC
    Rumours that Microsoft were going to lock out the PC Platform from using the controller in order to sell a PC only version started spreading when OXM reported on an article published by Next In Gaming. This only prompted Microsoft’s Director of Product Management, Albert Penello, to get himself on NEOGaf and debunk the claims:

    “This is 100% wrong. When the drivers become available, they will work with the existing controllers. There is no plan to do a new, separate controller that only works in Windows. It will be the same as it is on Xbox 360 – the Xbox One controller you have today will work. That’s not to say that we may not ship also PC SKU of the Xbox One controller, much like we do on Xbox 360.”

    Later on in the thread, when someone asked if a separate dongle would be required for compatibility, Penello said “The controller (in wired mode) will work as-is. How wireless will/could work is TBD. There are some options we are looking at.”

    The compatibility driver is set to release this year and Peneloo gave no further updates, although he did say that once the driver is released there will be an explanation for the hold up.

    Kyle reacted to k2trf for news, [IMPORTANT] TeamSpeak Updates/Changes
    Secondly, the auto-assignment system has been working for a few weeks now, and we've not noticed any major bugs anymore, so it's completely live.

    NOBODY is to assign any server rank to anybody going foward -- if you aren't marked as a staff on the TS server, it's because you haven't registered on the JRTX site and linked your TeamSpeak UID. (If you need assistance with this, you can always email me at my JR email (Tim[at]JRNetwork.Net), or Caly, and either one of us can help you with whatever issues you're having)

    On that note, your rank with the JRTX site is not dictated by your current rank on the JR site -- we already have misalignments such as Caly not being marked as an Owner on both sites, though Jamie is, so we will assign ranks as we see fit as well (If you only play Minecraft, you're not really a JRTX Admin, helping to Administrate the Steam servers now, right?)

    Third, the Public Gaming channels have all been condensed -- having ones for individual channels made little sense with the amount of people utilizing the server versus the amount of people actively using each individual channel; going foward there are just Group channels, and a Lobby -- if you're getting a group together to play something (and you're not in a Private Group, with predefined channels), just find an empty Public group and join it. And again, as always, you can make temporary channels if needed/wanted, and even password lock them so nobody but Staff can get in without you giving them the password.

    Finally, the Private Groups are also very overgrown; all the Private Groups will (over the course of the next week) be set to the following structure:

    [Main Private Group Channel, Name of Group] (Name of Game)
    -AFK
    -Party 01
    -Party 02
    -Raid 01
    -Raid 02
    -Officers

    This is all that's usually neccessary for even the most vast operations. If there is a significant need for additional channels in private groups, they can always be readded. That said, that will only be the case if they will be utilized a majority of the time -- Temporary channels can ALWAYS be created, and those clean themselves up, so where we don't need excess empty channels, they just make the server look more empty than it actually is.

    In particular, the Ascendents and TeOz channels will be cleaned up in this manner -- especially since the TeOz Channels are honestly being used less than 3 days out of an entire month thus far.

    On top of cleaning up the amount of channels (quantity), I will personally be cleaning up their quality. Thus far, many are still open and unprotected. Others put a password lock on all of their channels, which is the hard way of going about it.

    We now have a permissions blanket in effect. This means that all ranks, both Server and Channel based, have a predefined number that outlines their basic permissions. This means that Private Groups can be set such that only those marked by that Group's staff will be able to enter the channel at all (not including Server Staff of course), ensuring that people who should otherwise be using the Public Gaming channels don't inadvertantly use the Private Groups instead because they don't know better.

    The permission blanket is pretty simple, for anyone curious:
    95 == JRTX Owners
    80 == JRTX Founders
    75 == JRTX Administrator
    70 == JRTX Moderators
    65 == JRTX Grief Police
    60 == JRTX Helpers
    20 == JRTX Premium
    15 == JRTX Donators
    10 == JRTX Members
    05 == JRTX Registered
    00 == JRTX Guest
    -1 == Server Banned

    50 == Channel Owners
    45 == Channel Founders
    40 == Channel Administrators
    35 == Channel Moderators
    30 == Channel Grief Police
    25 == Channel Helpers
    21 == Channel Premium
    16 == Channel Donator
    11 == Channel Member
    06 == Channel Registered
    00 == Channel Validating
    -1 == Channel Banned

    This might appear to be skewed towards channel groups, but keep in mind that channel perms only take effect in the channel and subchannels where you're marked with that perm. For this reasoning, all channel permissions for private groups should be listed in the root group channel (so that they automatically apply in all the subchannels), and that will control only Private Groups being able to get in their channels. By the same token, when not in their channels, they don't have a higher power than the JRTX groups (so you still have to be a JRTX Donator in order to join the JRTX Donator channel!

    That should be all the changes thus far, as well as your fair warning with all the changes to come over the next week; if I've forgotten something I'll come back and update the post, and if you guys have any questions, as I said, you can ask myself or Caly (we're almost always hanging around TeamSpeak, and if you want to email me privately instead, you are always welcome to do so (Tim[at]JRNetwork.Net).

    You should not attempt to send me a PM on the JR site however; I'm not on here very often during the day at all, and therefore will likely miss a message on here.

    If you'd like to comment on this, you should not comment on this news article (which is very likely to be missed); you should instead post on the origonal thread,

    EDIT: As I'm continuing to work on the server, I've actually found multiple loopholes and problems in the way TeamSpeak handles permissions (thanks TeamSpeak Devs! ... >_>) and therefore certain things like temporary channels have been further locked down -- they can only be created as a subchannel of the Gaming Lobby, the Public Development channel, or the Public Donators/Premium channel (and you have to be in those channels to make a subchanel of them). The other things I've had to alter from previously stated and am still working on will come in another edit/update to this thread at some point (hopefully soon).

    Kyle reacted to  Chris for news, Raijintek Adios, Themis And Ereboss CPU Cooler Review
    It is forgivable that you haven't heard of Raijintek before, however they are claiming that you will hear a lot more about them in the future. The business has been founded by some of the former employees of the well known brands Cooler Master and Xigmatek, which ultimately means that they have a great deal of knowledge and experience into the cooling market already. OverclockersUK picked up on Raijintek with them having them on sale first who have a massive customer base so they are aiding Raijintek to expand their market straight away. Raijintek has such a great management history but is still an 'unknown' brand.

    The packaging on these products doesn't really differ, they all feature a common red and grey livery. On the front of the box, there is of course and image of the cooler, and you get more information on the cooler on the sides and rear. Inside the box we find the accessories that are required for the installation of these coolers. The accessories are standard across all 3 coolers as they all incorporate the same mounting mechanism. The only real problem is that the thermal paste is installed in a sachet rather than a syringe which can make it an annoyance to apply.

    The box contents from the Ereboss 140mm CPU cooler

    Raijintek Aidos 92mm CPU Cooler
    The adios is the smallest cooler in the range (92mm) with a price of £14.99. The adios has a compact size meaning it can fit to most cases/boards considering it has it's own mounting bracket.

    Features:
    C.D.C design (CPU Direct Contact)
    Patented pressing heat-pipe/fin technology to prevent heat-pipe damage
    Patented Solder-less louver fin assembly for heat-pipe ventilation increase
    Less pollution, an exclusive green environmental protection cooler
    Compatible with all of the modern Intel & AMD sockets in the market (775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 FM2+ / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2)
    Anti-Vibration rubbers used to minimize the vibration
    Low cost
    Fairly easy installation and user friendly

    Specification:
    Diemension: 95mm (W) x 55mm (D) x 136mm (H)
    Base Material: CPU Direct Contact
    Fin Material: Aluminum Alloy; Solder-less fins assembly
    Heat Pipe: f3 6mm
    Fan Dimension: 92mm (W) x 92mm (H) x 25mm (D)
    Voltage Rating: 12V
    Starting Voltage: 7V
    Speed: 1000 ~ 2400 R.P.M

    Air Pressure: 4.2mmH2O (Max)
    Life Expectancy 40,000 hours
    Noise Level: 29.8dBA (Max)
    Connector: 4 Pin with PWM

    The Raijintek Adios

    This cooler goes with the standard tower design, it has a single fan blowing over the fins. They clearly haven't concentrated on the aesthetic design of the cooler as the cooper heatpipes aren't nickel plated so they don't match the aluminium fins. The four U-shaped heatpipes, each with a diameter of 6mm, should transfer a good amount of heat. They have opted for the direct contact design here meaning they have direct contact with the CPU in the block. The fan included is a 92mm Raijintek branded model which has a rather unusual and unique color scheme of white and red. The housing on the fan is red with the blades being white. This doesn't appear to make sense to us as it doesn't match many other components on the market. The fan can spin itself up to 2,400RPM but it is PWM controlled so it can spin as low as 1000 RPM provided that the CPU is experiencing heavy load. It connects to the motherboard using a standard 4-pin fan header.

    Raijintek Themis 120mm CPU Cooler
    The themis is a slim type 120mm cooler with a price of £21.95. This makes an ideal cooler for most ATX chassis. With the anti-vibration rubbers and supporting all sockets, it is the ultimate choice at a budget price.

    Features:
    CPU Direct Contact design
    Patented pressing heat-pipe/fin technology to prevent heat-pipe damage
    Patented Solder-less louver fin assembly for heat-pipe ventilation increase
    Compatible with all modern AMD & Intel sockets on the market (775 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / 1366 / 2011 FM2+ / FM2 / FM1 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2)
    Anti-Vibration rubbers are used to minimize the vibration
    Large dissipating area with an Elegant design.

    Specification:
    Dimension: 122mm (W) x 50mm (D) x 157mm (H)
    Base Material: CPU Direct Contact
    Fin Material: Aluminium Alloy; Solder-less fins assembly
    Heat pipe: f3 8mm
    Fan Dimension: 120mm (W) x 120mm (H) x 25mm (D)
    Voltage Rating: 12V
    Starting Voltage: 7V
    Speed: 1000 ~ 1800 R.P.M
    Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
    Air Flow: 78.82 CFM (Max)
    Air Pressure: 3.22 mmH2O (Max)
    Life Expectancy: 40,00 Hours
    Noise Level: 27.86 dBA (Max)
    Connector: 4 pin with PWM
    Weight: 448g (Heat Sink Only)

    The Raijintek Themis

    The Themis is the next step up in terms of size in Raijintek's range. It is designed for the users who are looking for that extra bit of cooling performance for their system. The Themis once again carries that tower design with an all aluminium heat sink arranged across the heatpipes. But again the aesthetics haven't had anything to enhance them, meaning the copper heatpipes are left exposed. The themis' 8mm heatpipes are slightly larger than the Aidos however there are only 3 this time. They once again feature the direct-contact design. The fan this time is once again Rajintek themed with a color scheme that is hard to find other components in, however this fan is a 120mm version which is free to spin between 1000RPM and 1800RPM controlled by PWM and it depends on what temperature the CPU is running at.

    Raijintek Ereboss 140mm CPU Cooler
    The Ereboss is the flagship cooler of Raijintek's current range (140mm) with a price of £31.99. It also includes the worlds top slim type 14013 fan. The Ereboss is designed to provide an awesome performance with a great price. While the fan is only 13mm thick it still provides outstanding performance.

    Features:
    Nickel copper base, efficient 6mm Heat-pipe (x6) & a rather large dissipating area fin
    Super Slim type 14013 PWM fan - 13mm height; Low noise & outstanding air flow as well as pressure
    Multiple mounting kits for a wide range of sockets
    Patent designed holes on fins to provide excellent air flow and cooling efficiency
    Ability to use dual fans and anti-vibration rubber attached.

    Specification:
    Dimension: 140mm (W) x 110.5mm (D) x 160mm (H)
    Base Material: Nickel Copper
    Fin Material: Aluminium Alloy; Solder-free fins assembly
    Heat pipe: 6 pipes
    Fan Dimension: 140mm (W) x 150mm (H) x 13mm (D)
    Voltage Rating: 12V
    Starting Voltage: 7V
    Speed: 1100 ~ 1650 R.P.M
    Bearing Type: Sleeve Bearing
    Air Flow: 66.65 CFM (Max)
    Air Pressure: 1.72 mmH2O (Max)

    The Raijintek Ereboss (upside down)

    Being Raijintek's current flagship model the Ereboss is significantly larger than the Themis and is aimed at those users who are looking to achieve a fairly large overclock on their system. Just like it's counterparts the Ereboss features the tower design. The heatsink is once again arranged the heatpipes, however the Ereboss has six of them rather than the three. The six 6mm heatpipes should in theory provide twice the area to dissipate heat than the three in the Adios. But the heatpipes here aren't direct contact, as the CPU block here incases them and it is entirely nickel-plated. Despite the Ereboss being a single tower design, it has a massive surface area for heat dissipation as the individual aluminum fins are very large. The fan that comes with the Ereboss is a rather strange choice. While the 140mm aspect of the fan seems normal, however it is only 13mm thick. This puts it about half the thickness of a standard 140mm fan. It is remain to be seen as to whether this will affect performance at all. The fan itself is once again red and white in color. It is also PWM controlled and is able to spin between 1100 R.P.M and 1650 R.P.M. It also features a 4-pin PWM connect just like the other two fans. It would be nice too see a two fan variant in the future with this cooler as it is positioned as being a high-end model.

    Final Thoughts
    The Raijintek coolers are there to make a very strong first impression providing a bang-for-buck deal, as they offer decent performance at competitive prices points. This range appears to be have positioned to directly compete with the likes of Cooler Master and Xigmatek. They all utilize a single tower design which does keep them out of the top end of the market but this is a good thing as it is becoming increasingly crowded. The color scheme of the fans seems to be the only problem as there aren't many other components that are red and white. At this current point in time the coolers are only available for pre-order on Overclockers UK here. The prices make all the coolers a good value for money; with the Adios being priced at £14.99, the Themis at £21.95 and the Ereboss at £31.99. The Adios would be the best option if you are looking to build a powerful system in a fairly compact case. In the future it would be nice to see Raijintek release other components that follow this color scheme such as case fans or some cases themselves.
