  1. Hey everyone, Thought it would be good if we had a thread where we could share the home screens of our phones. I'll start with mine currently using 2 screens, one is called a "shelf" it's a feature exclusive to the OnePlus launcher as far as I can tell and I can just put as many widgets on it as a like.
  2. Personally I've never been very keen on Apple products, but personal bias aside, there is no denying the iPhone 6 is a good phone. To start with, Apple have finally caught up with the rest of the market in realising people want bigger screens. The standard model is now 4.7inch, making it possible for apps to become less cramped. The case itself is fairly well designed and refreshingly different to the designs we've seen in previous models. My favourite part personally is the camera, whilst it doesn't quite have 4k recording, it does take fantastic pictures and allows you to record in slow motion. Anyone who’s played around with the slow motion recording, will know just how fun it is and I highly recommend you give it a go if you haven’t before! Without a doubt, the worst part of the phone is the price. As many of you Apple users may have come to realise, you pay a significant amount extra simply because of the logo on the back. Whilst the battery is bigger, so is the screen, this means in real terms the battery life hasn't increased that much. Whilst the phone may last longer whilst idle, if you are using the screen the battery life is sure to drain much quicker - meaning the battery life probably isn't that much better than the iPhone 5s. The design has also been criticised for being too slippy, whilst the new design looks great, it’s very smooth and could easily slip out of your hand. With the new design apple could have easily introduced a more ‘grippy’ finish but instead went for something much smoother. Overall the iPhone 6 is a fantastic phone. Whilst it still has a long way to go with battery life, the features of the phone are brilliant and the phone itself is very responsive. Definitely a phone worth buying, at least if you're willing to pay the price tag... Personally I’ll be sticking with my android Sources: http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/iphone-6-1264565/review, http://www.forbes.com/sites/gordonkelly/2015/01/12/best-and-worst-things-about-the-iphone-6
  3. For a long time Samsung has been at the top of the Android market and this phone shows us why. The S6 has ditched the plastic look of previous models and has a new glass case. This phone doesn’t only perform well on the inside as others before it have, but also looks good on the outside - fixing one of Samsung's longest lasting criticisms. They also haven’t been shy of adding additional features, one of the biggest new features is superfast and wireless charging. With the S6 you can use your phone for 4 hours with just 10 minutes charge, making it less likely that you will run out of battery too quickly. The camera has also had huge improvements, long gone are the days of having to wait multiple seconds to take a quick photo, the S6 takes only 0.7 seconds to load. The camera also produces much better images than any previous models and has been upgraded to a new 16MP camera, also capable of shooting in 4k. As you can see, you certainly wouldn't be short of reasons to get the S6, but there are some downsides. Many Samsung users (including myself) have enjoyed the ability to replace batteries when they come to the end of their useful life, rather than getting a new phone. This feature has been removed from the latest model in an attempt to slim it down and improve design. Expandable memory has also been removed, yet another feature many users have taken advantage of in the past. The final big issue with the phone is cost, whilst the phone has some great features, I would dispute whether it is good value for money. Fortunately it is set to get cheaper after disappointing profits, how much cheaper, we still don’t know. Overall this model seems to have made moves to attract a more mainstream crowd to compete better with the iPhone. If you can get over the lack of expandable memory, and inability to replace the battery, this could well be the phone for you. Overall it has some fantastic features and would be my personal favourite out of those currently available. 4. Recommend an Apple/Android application! Source: blog.pandora.com The structure for the posts are: Application Name: Apple or Android: Why you choose this app and features: Rating: Price: I'll start it off with: Application Name: Minecraft Apple or Android: Android Why you choose this app and features: I recommended this game because you can just mess around with this for hours and not get bored. As you would already know this game is about minecraft. This game includes 36 blocks you can choose from to build, randomly generated worlds, Multiplayer (Wifi Only), And save multiplayer worlds on your own phone. This game is still in it's early version, but I think there should be more of a crafting area to this game, where you can build ladders, etc. If you love minecraft on pc, then you'll love this!
